July 14th to July 20th, 2002:
Euro Pony Club Camp in Southfield House, Somerset, England
The Euro Camp 2002 took place between July 14 and July 20 at Southfield House near Frome in Somerset, England. This annual camp is meant to provide a special week of riding instruction and events for those invited to attend. Participants in this year's event included children from France, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Turkey and the United States. Each of the riders was paired with an English child who supplied a pony for their international quest.By all accounts the Camp was a great success. The youthful contingent of riders enjoyed a week long camp out during which time they participated in daily instructional activities as well as a varied program of entertainment each evening. On the last day of the Camp parents were invited to tea along with Mr. Gordon Wesley, Chairman of the British Pony Club, Mr. Ernest McMillen, President of the Euro Pony Club as well as the Mayoress of Frome. The campers performed a musical ride which was followed by an awards ceremony. Valued even more than the prizes awarded were the new friendships that developed during the week.
